What does sorority recruitment look like at the California State University, Long Beach?
Primary recruitment usually takes places somewhere around Week 2 of the Fall Semester. There are three rounds of recruitment: Meet the Chapters, Philanthropy, and Preference. Each round has a different focus, such as learning about the chapter's philanthropy or hearing more about the sisterhood and getting to see the chapter house.
Where can I sign up to participate in primary recruitment?
CSULB PHC (The Panhellenic council consisting of women from different sororities) will post a link to sign up for primary before the fall semester on their website and Instagram. There is a fee to sign up for recruitment that goes in part to a 2019 Formal Recruitment t-shirt that is worn for the first round of recruitment and designed by a sorority member.
Is formal recruitment the only way to join a sorority?
No. There is also a less formal recruitment that happens each Spring. If a chapter is participating, it will be posted on the PCH website and instagram. There you can find more information on the Spring recruitment events. On top of formal recruitment some chapters participate in informal recruitment, also known as COB or continuous open bidding. To find out if a chapter is participating in informal recruitment you can look at the chapter's social media, website or email their informal recruitment organizer.
